This dive site, known as Kassakaappimonttu or 'The Safe Monument', gained its name from the intriguing discovery of a burglarized fire safe. Located in Finland, it offers a unique shallow freshwater diving experience. Divers can explore the modest underwater terrain, with fish often found along the north bank, providing a point of interest for navigation and observation.
The marine life primarily consists of freshwater species. Perch are commonly seen, and at least one pike has been observed on the north bank. While not a site for large pelagic encounters, it offers a glimpse into local Finnish freshwater ecosystems.
The best time to visit might be during periods of less earthmoving activity to ensure better visibility, which typically ranges from 5 to 8 meters. Due to its shallow average depth of 3 meters and maximum depth of 7 meters, this site is ideal for beginners, snorkelers, and freedivers looking for a calm, easily accessible freshwater spot.
