About this dive site

This dive site, Lake Barbora, is a unique freshwater destination in Czechia, originating from a spontaneously filled lignite mining pit in the 1970s. Divers can explore a variety of man-made attractions, including a caisson, a car wreck, statues, and specialized training plates. The bottom is predominantly clay, offering interesting topography for navigation and exploration.

The lake boasts a diverse fish population, featuring species such as grass carp, bream, carp, tench, perch, roach, pike, pikeperch, eel, catfish, and trout. Invertebrate life includes pond clams and crayfish, providing opportunities for observing freshwater aquatic ecosystems.

Lake Barbora is suitable for year-round diving, with the artificial attractions offering consistent points of interest. It's particularly appealing for divers seeking unique freshwater experiences, wreck diving practice, or skill development using the training plates. Freedivers will also find the 25-meter maximum depth suitable for training and exploration. Divers should be prepared for typical lake conditions, including potentially cooler water temperatures.
