This dive site, known as Cyclops Caves or Konnos Point, offers a fascinating underwater experience suitable for guided dives and courses. Entry is via a giant stride or seated entry, followed by a short surface swim before descending past large boulders. Divers can then explore the area at their chosen depth, returning gradually to shallower waters. The underwater topography is characterized by intriguing rock formations and potentially some cave systems, making it visually interesting.
The marine life here is quite diverse. Divers can expect to encounter octopus, nudibranchs, lionfish, damselfish, cornetfish, bream, and even turtles. The area may also hold a variety of smaller fish and invertebrates, offering good opportunities for macro photography. The abundance and variety of life contributes to the overall diving experience.
The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when the water is clearer and the marine life is most active. Visibility is generally good, however, strong currents could potentially influence some dives. Freediving here offers a chance to enjoy the shallower, abundant marine life, while respecting the depth and current conditions. It's advisable to carry a dive float, especially for freediving, for safety and to be visible to other divers and boats. Always dive with a buddy and follow safe diving and freediving practices.
