This dive site, aptly named Ship Wreck Point, is located directly in front of the Sea Aquarium in Curaçao and is primarily accessed via a dive boat. The main attraction for recreational divers is a beautiful coral reef wall that thrives between 10-20 meters. At approximately 10 meters, divers can explore a large anchor and a substantial propeller, remnants of the site's namesake. For those with technical diving certifications, two smaller shipwrecks lie on a deeper ledge at 50 meters, offering an extended exploration opportunity.
The marine environment here is rich and varied. Common sightings include fascinating creatures like squid, octopus, and various species of moray eels nestled within the reef. The site also offers the thrilling possibility of encountering larger pelagic life, with dolphins occasionally spotted swimming in the blue, and graceful spotted eagle rays frequently observed.
Curaçao generally provides excellent diving conditions year-round, making this site enjoyable any time. Its diverse offerings, from shallow reef exploration to deeper wreck dives, make it suitable for a wide range of divers, from beginners to advanced recreational divers, and even technical divers. Freedivers will find the 10-20m depth range particularly appealing for breath-hold explorations of the coral wall and shallow wreck features.
