This dive site, Playa Kalki, also known as Alice in Wonderland, holds the distinction of being Curaçao's most north-westerly dive site accessible from shore. Divers will find navigation straightforward along a beautiful reef that runs parallel to the beach, characterized by impressive, large coral formations. There is no specific historical background or unique story associated with the site, making its natural beauty the primary draw.
The vibrant reef teems with marine life, offering numerous opportunities to observe a variety of reef fish sheltering within the intricate coral structures. Moray eels are common inhabitants, often seen peeking from their hiding spots. A notable find for keen observers is the frequent presence of Lettuce Sea Slugs (Elysia crispata), particularly on the shallower sections of the reef.
The optimal diving depth at Alice in Wonderland ranges between 5 to 20 meters, catering to a wide spectrum of divers. The site boasts excellent on-site amenities, including convenient parking, a restaurant, clean toilets, and an integrated diving school, which greatly enhances the diving experience. Given its shallow, rich reef, it is highly recommended and perfectly suited for both snorkeling and freediving enthusiasts.
