About this dive site

This dive site, known as Parasasa Beach or Crash Site, is a unique blend of history and marine life. It is easily navigable from the shore, featuring a widespread reef where divers can explore remnants of a WWII Kingfisher plane and other parts from the USS Erie, which was torpedoed in 1942 and put ashore nearby. While the main ship was sunk offshore, these scattered pieces provide an interesting historical element to the dive.

The site boasts typical Caribbean marine life, including colorful angelfish, graceful butterfly fish, various snapper species, and vibrant parrotfish. The wide-spread reef provides ample opportunity to observe the diverse ecosystem, with numerous coral formations and smaller invertebrates hiding amongst the structure.

The optimal time to visit Curaçao for diving is generally year-round, with consistently warm waters and good visibility. This site is particularly suitable for beginners due to its shallow average depth and gentle conditions. Both snorkelers and freedivers will find the site enjoyable, with plenty to see close to the surface and along the reef.
