This dive site offers a unique opportunity to explore the Wreck of the Cali, a four-mast schooner that sank just north of George Town Harbor in 1944. The wreck lies within 70 yards of shore and at a depth of approximately 30 feet, providing excellent visibility thanks to crystal clear water. The ship was intentionally blown up after being declared a hazard to navigation, leaving behind a fascinating underwater landscape. You'll find the ship’s ribs exposed and scattered across the ocean floor, along with winches, boilers, and hull plates – all covered in vibrant sponges and corals. The area is teeming with marine life, including diverse tropical fish and a notable population of silver Tarpon. This shore dive provides an accessible yet rewarding experience for divers and snorkelers alike.
