This dive site, Parede do Tarrafal, is located in the sheltered bay of Tarrafal, quite close to the shore. The dive begins on a rocky plateau at 6 meters, from which divers then descend along a vibrant wall, keeping it to their right, reaching a maximum depth of 20 meters. The wall is characterized by numerous holes and crevices waiting to be explored, providing a rich habitat for various marine species.
The site is teeming with marine life, always surrounded by schools of fish. Divers can expect to encounter Doctorfish, colorful parrot fish, cryptic nudibranchs, elusive moray eels, puffer fish, and soldier fish. Characteristic species like the Cape Verde damzel are common, alongside larger predators such as amberjacks. Patience may also reveal well-camouflaged frog fish and fascinating spider crabs.
The relatively shallow depths and protected bay make this an ideal spot for divers of all levels. While no specific 'best time' is provided, Cabo Verde generally offers good diving conditions year-round. This site is particularly suitable for macro photography due to its diverse small marine life within the wall's crevices. Both snorkelers and freedivers will find the upper plateau and the manageable depth of the wall highly appealing.
