About this dive site

This dive site, Naufragio Blackadder, is the resting place of a 70-meter Clipper sailboat that met its end in 1905. During a fierce storm, its moorings broke, causing it to crash into the coral reefs of Boa Viagem Beach. Today, the wreck lies at a maximum depth of 9 meters, with an average depth of around 4 meters. Its structure remains remarkably preserved and clearly visible, offering an engaging historical site for divers.

The Blackadder wreck serves as a vibrant artificial reef, attracting a variety of marine life. Divers can expect to encounter numerous shoals of fish that utilize the wreck for shelter, along with several seahorses and batfish, which are common inhabitants of this underwater environment. The site is a living ecosystem teeming with smaller reef creatures and the surrounding coral.

As a site of "easy access" and a "favorite of the Bahian diver," Naufragio Blackadder is suitable for all levels, particularly beginners and those interested in shallow wreck dives. The preserved structure and diverse marine life make it an excellent spot for underwater photography. Its shallow depth also makes it ideal for snorkeling and freediving. No specific best time to visit is mentioned, but generally, good conditions are found during the region's dry season.
