This dive site is Maraldi, a shallow shipwreck located near a lighthouse in Brazil. The maximum depth is only 7 meters, making it exceptionally accessible and safe for novice divers and those undergoing their first baptism. The wreck itself is partially dismantled, offering a unique cavern-like structure at the bottom that guides the dive. The central boiler is a striking feature.
Marine life is abundant around Maraldi. Divers and snorkelers can expect to encounter a variety of colorful fish, including wrasses, surgeonfish, butterflyfish, and angelfish. Invertebrates are also well-represented, with lobsters, crabs, and even turtles commonly sighted.
The best time to visit Maraldi would likely be during the warmer months when visibility is optimal and marine life is most active. For freedivers, the shallow depth and relatively calm conditions make this an ideal location for breath-hold exploration. Divers should check local weather reports and current conditions prior to entering the water. Careful navigation around the wreck is advised, especially in the cavern area.
