This dive site, Fenda Jorge Grego, also known as The Crack of the Island of Jorge Grego, is one of Ilha Grande's most famous and desired diving spots. It consists of a striking crevice, approximately 4 meters wide and 15 meters deep, nestled in the heart of Jorge Grego Island. Dives here are performed as drift dives from a boat, navigating the natural opening of the crack.
The marine life within and around the crevice is vibrant. Divers can expect to encounter various shoals at the entrance of the crack, and it is also common to spot turtles gracefully swimming by. The walls of the crevice are particularly rich in macro life, with nudibranchs being a very common and delightful find for observant divers.
While no specific "best time to visit" is provided, the dive site's nature as a drift dive in a crevice with strong currents means it requires experienced divers comfortable with these conditions. It's a highly rewarding site for those seeking unique topography and diverse small marine life. Freedivers with advanced skills could also explore the shallower parts of the crevice.
