This dive site, known as White Slave, offers a unique experience combining historical significance with underwater exploration. Located off the coast of Bonaire, it’s recognizable by white colored slave huts—a poignant memorial to the period of slavery on the island. Please approach this area with respect and awareness of its historical importance. Alongside the huts stands a white obelisk, serving as a navigational marker for trade ships from centuries past. The reef begins approximately 200 meters from shore, reaching the main reef at an underwater depth of around 10 meters. An anchored buoy provides a helpful reference point aligning with the entry and exit points. Keep an eye out for marine life; you may encounter stingrays and turtles resting on the sandy plateau. For a more rewarding experience, explore the reef heading North – this section tends to be denser and boasts a greater variety of reef fish.
