This dive site, Sweet Dreams (59), is a well-regarded shore dive on Bonaire. Located at a critical turtle nesting area, parking on the beach is strictly prohibited to protect eggs. Divers must navigate a potentially challenging surf entry, then swim over a sandy expanse before reaching the vibrant coral reef, which descends to a maximum of 23 meters.
The site lives up to its name, offering excellent opportunities to encounter turtles, often found on the sand up to 10 meters or cruising the reef. Beyond turtles, divers can expect to find a diverse array of 'beautiful Bonairean life,' including numerous reef fish species, various hard and soft corals, and a plethora of macro invertebrates.
Bonaire offers excellent diving conditions year-round, making Sweet Dreams a prime destination at any time. Divers should be mindful of the surf during entry and exit. Both snorkelers and freedivers will find the site highly suitable, particularly in the shallower reef areas, for observing the rich marine ecosystem, especially the resident turtles.
