This dive site, La Dania's Leap (10), is exclusively accessible by boat, though adventurous divers can undertake a unique 'leap' from shore to drift dive through to Karpata. It features a stunning steep wall descending to approximately 30 meters, which then transitions into a sandy plateau before dropping off again to about 60 meters. Navigation typically involves following the wall and exploring the healthy reef.
Divers can anticipate encountering a vibrant array of marine life typical of Bonaire's pristine waters. The healthy coral reef teems with colorful reef fish such as parrotfish, angelfish, and surgeonfish. Keep an eye out for larger pelagics like turtles, which are frequently spotted, and there's a good chance of seeing a Caribbean Reef Shark patrolling the deeper sections of the wall. Various types of hard and soft corals, including brain coral and sea fans, adorn the reef.
Bonaire offers excellent diving conditions year-round. The best time to visit La Dania's Leap is generally outside of peak holiday seasons for a more tranquil experience, though conditions remain consistently good. For divers, maintaining good buoyancy control is crucial along the wall. Freedivers will appreciate the clear visibility and the dramatic wall topography, which offers varying depths. Always be mindful of potential moderate currents, especially if planning a drift dive towards Karpata.
