This dive site is the Coral Nursery, managed by the Saba Conservation Foundation (SCF). It's a special location dedicated to coral propagation, featuring over a dozen coral 'trees' where various coral species, primarily staghorn corals, are being cultivated. The site has a sandy bottom at about 16 meters, with navigation primarily involving observing the coral trees and the surrounding marine life. Its primary purpose is conservation and restoration, offering a unique educational diving experience.
Divers can expect to see a variety of marine life, including the propagated staghorn corals growing on the nursery trees. Beyond the corals, the site is regularly frequented by trunkfish, several species of turtles, and various rays. Other reef fish are also commonly spotted around the nursery structures, contributing to a vibrant ecosystem.
While this site is a highlight for its conservation efforts, diving is strictly permitted only with SCF guidance or explicit permission. The shallow to moderate depths make it suitable for divers of all experience levels, including snorkelers and freedivers. It's a year-round destination, offering consistent opportunities to witness the growth and development of the coral nursery and its resident marine inhabitants.
