About this dive site

This dive site, known as Caye Caulker Shark Ray Alley, offers an accessible and thrilling encounter with marine life just 5 minutes by boat from Caye Caulker piers. While distinct from the famous Hol Chan Marine Reserve Shark Ray Alley, it provides a similar intimate experience. The site is characterized by its exceptionally shallow depths, making navigation straightforward and allowing for extended observation of the resident animals without complex underwater maneuvers.

The primary inhabitants and main attractions of this alley are numerous docile nurse sharks and graceful southern stingrays. These creatures are accustomed to human presence, often approaching divers and snorkelers, offering unparalleled opportunities for observation and interaction. While the site primarily focuses on these larger species, general reef fish may also be present in the surrounding waters.

The best time to visit Caye Caulker Shark Ray Alley is generally year-round, though the dry season from November to May typically offers the most stable weather and best visibility. For both divers and freedivers, the shallow depth makes it an ideal location to practice buoyancy and photography with large animals. It's an excellent choice for a memorable animal encounter and a perfect complement to other Caye Caulker diving adventures.
