This dive site, famously known as Hollywood Bowl and also Goulden Cay, is a government-protected island situated directly west of New Providence in the Bahamas. Its picturesque underwater scenery has made it a popular location for several Hollywood films, lending it its memorable name. The site features relatively shallow depths, making it easily navigable and perfect for beginners, offering a relaxing and straightforward dive or snorkel experience.
The Hollywood Bowl teems with typical vibrant Caribbean marine life. Divers and snorkelers can expect to encounter impressive nurse and reef sharks, graceful eagle rays, sea turtles, and elusive stingrays. The reef is also home to an abundance of colorful fish species, including snapper, angelfish, grunts, parrot fish, and various types of grouper, all thriving within this protected habitat.
This site is excellent for both snorkelers and beginning divers year-round, thanks to the Bahamas' generally consistent warm waters and good visibility. Its shallow average depth of 6 meters and maximum depth of 13 meters make it ideal for extended bottom times and a safe environment for those new to diving or freediving. Always be respectful of the protected marine environment during your visit.
