About this dive site

This dive site, known as Wörthersee Atlantis, is a beautiful freshwater location on the north shore of Wörthersee in Austria. It features various natural rock formations, providing an engaging underwater landscape for divers. While the primary recreational dive area has a maximum depth of 13 meters, the site is renowned for pathways leading to a sunken sailboat at 28m and further steep walls that descend beyond typical recreational limits, offering potential for advanced explorations.

The vibrant ecosystem of Wörthersee Atlantis is home to a variety of freshwater species. Divers often encounter catfish and perch, which seek refuge among the sunken coniferous trees and rocky crevices. Pike and crayfish are also frequently sighted, adding to the rich biodiversity of this freshwater environment.

The dive site offers excellent conditions for exploring its unique formations and diverse aquatic life. Access can be problematic when the local lido, Bad Stich, is closed, so checking its operating hours is advisable. Due to its shallow average depth, it's ideal for extended bottom times and photography. Both snorkelers and freedivers will find the clear waters and interesting topography engaging, with plenty to see even near the surface.
