This dive site is a sunken YS-11 aircraft, which crashed in 2007. The plane belonged to the former Air Aruba airline and was named Trupial, after a local bird species. A local dive shop owner initiated the sinking of this plane for recreational diving purposes following the airline's bankruptcy. The wreck is positioned in a take-off configuration, with the nose at approximately 55 feet below the surface and descending to 85 feet at the tail section. Wreck Specialty certification is recommended for penetration. Visibility can vary depending on conditions. It’s an interesting dive offering unique photographic opportunities.
